Family Sunday School
We have a monthly gathering of all Sunday School students (pre-K – 5th grade) and their families at 8:30am on the first Sunday of each month. Our time begins with a light continental breakfast for all. We then have time for singing, hearing a Bible story, doing an activity or craft and praying before we end at 9:20. One of the primary goals of Family Sunday Schools is to model at church how you might incorporate faith practices into your life at home.
Upcoming Family Sunday School dates are: November 6th, December 4th, January 8th, February 5th, March 5th, April 2nd, May 7th and June 4th.
Children in Worship
Children are invited to be full participants in the worship life of the congregation. We welcome kids (and adults too) to be fully themselves in worship – this means we expect that they will make noises and move their bodies often. Each week we set aside time for the children to come forward for a time to explore one of the readings in an age-appropriate way.
We also have bulletins for children, books and crayons they are welcome to use at any time. Additionally, children are welcome to be worship leaders as soon as they would like to do so.
First Communion
At Grace, the communion table is open for all. This means there is no set age at which children can begin participating in Holy Communion. At a faith community, we provide ongoing education around communion (and other aspects of the Christian faith). A child and family may choose to publicly acknowledge and celebrate the occasion of first communion.
Confirmation Class
In the Confirmation process young people begin to claim for themselves the promises made for them in baptism. Students in 7th and 8th grade gather twice a month to explore faith and various topics such as the Bible, Sacraments, faith practices, and faith in the public square. Half of classes are students only and the others are parents and students learning together.
Grace Christian Nursery School
The nursery school is a ministry of the congregation open to families with pre-school children. Membership at Grace is not a pre-requisite for students. Click here to learn more about Grace Christian Nursery School.
