The Pro League finalized a collective agreement with Hudl on March 27 to provide all clubs with more tools to reach an even higher level on and off the pitch.
Brussels, March 27, 2019 - The Pro League decided on March 27 to conclude a collective agreement with Hudl. This agreement, which came about with the active cooperation of national head coach Roberto Martinez, is a first major step in the Pro League's plans to provide all clubs with more tools to reach an even higher level on and off the pitch. Hudl will be responsible for the delivery and installation of cameras, the use of software for live match analysis, and a video platform. This deal, a significant investment, is fully supported by the Pro League clubs.
In the coming weeks, Hudl will install tactical 4K cameras—the best on the market—in all stadiums of the clubs from the Proximus League and the Jupiler Pro League. These are linked to analysis software with which analysts can make their analyzes during the match from the couch and thus help them to make adjustments immediately and during rest. All stadia will be equipped with direct internet lines for the sporting staff, on the bench and in the dressing rooms. That this will happen at all clubs is unseen in Europe. Finally, all images are brought together on a central platform, in order to simplify the exchange between the clubs.
"This project is a first step in the plans of the Pro League to offer more tools to the clubs through advanced digitization to lift their performance to an even higher level," confirms Pierre François, CEO of the Pro League. "This deal is unique in Europe and will be a catalyst for new exciting innovations within the Pro League in the coming years." For example, these cameras can be used for capturing live tracking data, which in addition to great sporting value can also be used for media and fan engagement.
Sam Lloyd, Hudl's Vice President for Elite Sports, says he is excited about this initiative. "It will help put Belgium on the map as one of the most innovative countries and competitions in the world." He added, “The close collaboration with the Pro League and the RBFA made it possible to develop an integrated solution, based on their innovative vision."
The national coach, who was closely involved as an expert in the realisation of the agreement, knows the systems from the Premier League. He therefore welcomes the deal. “This is an ambitious project that will allow coaches and analysts to use the latest technologies. It will give the Pro League clubs and Belgian football a head start on the competition.”
This project was explained today at the General Assembly to all clubs in the Jupiler Pro League and the Proximus League. All professional clubs welcomed this ambitious project.
